Can't tell difference between ferries and buses

Sorry, but I've just started with this API. I have it worked excellently well - nice work ! - except I don't see how to tell the difference between a bus and a ferry. I am producing a real time map and would like to have ferry icons for the ferries in the harbour, and bus icons for buses on the road. Is there any way I can tell ? I can't find any documentation ... if there is, please point me to it ! Cheers ! Simon

Thank you for your feedback. We have forwarded your query to our developers to see if it’s a quick fix or not. Either way we’ll look to have an update back to you in the next 2 weeks.

Hi Simon, Here's the response from our developers: The route type (bus, train or ferry) can be identified by route_type field of the route. See following document for details: https://developers.google.com/transit/gtfs/reference#routestxt The type (bus, train or ferry) of a stop can be found by the stop_type of a stop. See following example code for details. enum StopTransportType { BUS = 'BUS', TRAIN = 'TRAIN', FERRY = 'FERRY' } export const STOP_TYPES: Record = { BUS: 0, TRAIN: 1, FERRY: 2 } Thank you.

Hey, thanks for the response ! You're absolutely correct, except that I am working with the RealTime Transit feed : https://dev-portal.at.govt.nz/docs/services/realtime/operations/580698237d6df41584d3d0c9 This gives me a list of entities, which includes a vehicle, which has this information, e.g. : "vehicle": { "id": "512000741", "label": "CLIPPER 3", "license_plate": "ZMT3984" } and what I'm trying to do is work out if that's a bus or a ferry. I can't see how it tells me ... or how I can figure out which route it is on, to then use the approach you describe. If you look at my very early prototype - https://at-at-e2220.web.app/ - there's a lot of buses drifting around in the harbour (grin) Hope that makes sense ? Simon
